The EuComMeet project is an ambitious attempt to bring deliberative democracy closer to European people at a time in which several EU initiatives, such as the Conference on the Future of Europe, are opening new venues of participation to citizens to address and to mend the democratic deficit gap in representation.

EuComMeet intends to contribute to these efforts in two different ways. On the one hand, we will design a set of participatory spaces that can work at multiple levels (local, regional, and European), with different modes of interaction and in multilingual settings. On the other hand, EuComMeet will use these spaces to explore under which conditions deliberation can help to reduce polarisation, strengthen European identity, encourage inclusiveness and citizens’ reflectivity, and narrow the representative gap between policymakers and citizens.

To make this ambitious project possible, EuComMeet has assembled a very distinguished team of researchers across Europe with a vast experience in deliberative democracy, at both the theoretical and practical levels.
